Beautiful, caring, educational, fun。 Rowan has a great time, and it's a really valuable one for a sleep-deprived toddler full of strange and tangled emotions。 We all love it very much。 Beautiful, caring, educational, fun。 Rowan has a great time, and it's a really valuable one for a sleep-deprived toddler full of strange and tangled emotions。 We all love it very much。 。。。more

Okay introduction to feelings

My favorite part is that the color monster was all mixed up。 He was confused and needed to separate his feelings into jars so his heart and his brain could feel the same things at the same time。

Maria

Great for kids and easy explanation of your emotions。

I found this story under a search for children’s fantasy books from the website Elephant Books。 I did a little research and it has been recognized by the international literacy association and the children’s book council。 It has been translated in over 25 languages! I didn’t have access to a physical copy of the book so I watched a read aloud of the story through YouTube。 This story is about the color monster。 He is feeling many strong feelings and is confused。 A little girl helps explain to him I found this story under a search for children’s fantasy books from the website Elephant Books。 I did a little research and it has been recognized by the international literacy association and the children’s book council。 It has been translated in over 25 languages! The Color Monster woke up feeling confused, and he doesn't know why。 But there's a little girl in the book, a proxy for the reader, who's going to help him sort out his feelings into different jars。 Cute book with pleasingly homemade-feeling illustrations and a tidy color code for a variety of feelings。 The Color Monster woke up feeling confused, and he doesn't know why。 But there's a little girl in the book, a proxy for the reader, who's going to help him sort out his feelings into different jars。 Cute book with pleasingly homemade-feeling illustrations and a tidy color code for a variety of feelings。 。。。more

The Color Monster book shows children the range of emotions the color monster is experiencing。 Through this book children can learn what certain emotions look like by the color of the monster in the book。

My first graders LOVED this book in art class。 It opened up a lot of conversations about what they were feeling。 “I’m green today and maybe a little yellow。” I was so impressed! Definitely keeping in my rotation for next year。

The Color Monster is one of my top picks for identifying and describing the emotions we feel and experience on a daily basis。⠀This story begins with a monster who is feeling very confused about all the emotions he is experiencing。 The young girl guides him throughout the book by identifying the emotion, describes it, associates a colour and gives an example of how you might feel with this emotion。 The wonderful thing about this book is that each emotion is normalized and not considered good or b The Color Monster is one of my top picks for identifying and describing the emotions we feel and experience on a daily basis。⠀This story begins with a monster who is feeling very confused about all the emotions he is experiencing。 The young girl guides him throughout the book by identifying the emotion, describes it, associates a colour and gives an example of how you might feel with this emotion。 The wonderful thing about this book is that each emotion is normalized and not considered good or bad。 It acknowledges that we will experience all of these emotions and it encourages us to share how we feel。⠀It is important for children to learn how to identify and express a wide range of feelings, while also understanding that others have feelings too。 Children will be able to use this knowledge to guide their thinking and actions。 This book can be a wonderful tool for having these conversations with your child or students。⠀💡Associating colours with emotions is a great way to introduce feelings to young children。 You can ask, “what colour are you feeling right now?” It might be easier for some children to say, “I’m feeling blue (sad)” or “I’m feeling red (angry)”。⠀💡Continue to refer back to this book as a guide while reading other texts and ask, “how do you think the character is feeling?” and say, “that reminds me of when the monster was feeling sad/blue in the story, The Color Monster。⠀💡Model how to express your emotions using statements such as, “Mom is feeling sad right now because。。。” or in the classroom, “Mrs。 Walker is feeling happy and excited about。。。”。 The more children hear these statements, the more likely they will be to share their own feelings。 Allow children to understand that experiencing an array of emotions is ok and that these feelings will come and go and it makes us feel better to talk about them。⠀The Color Monster is the debut book written and illustrated by Anna Lewis。 She is a teacher and artist who specializes in emotional education。 This book is published by Little, Brown and company @littlebrown。 。。。more

This is a very well-crafted book that explains how a mixed-up monster can get his emotions sorted out。 It is visually beautiful and profound in its true meaning。 I think kids will totally understand the message and will find an easy way to get things under control and own what they are feeling so it won't get out of hand。 Great to use with elementary and younger kids。 Illustrations are colorful and outstanding。 Highly recommended for Grades K-2。 This is a very well-crafted book that explains how a mixed-up monster can get his emotions sorted out。 It is visually beautiful and profound in its true meaning。 I think kids will totally understand the message and will find an easy way to get things under control and own what they are feeling so it won't get out of hand。 Great to use with elementary and younger kids。 Illustrations are colorful and outstanding。 Highly recommended for Grades K-2。 。。。more

I thought this book was amazing。 It showed how the monster turned different colors based on how he was feeling emotionally。 For example red stood for angry and blue stood for sad。 The monster has a lot of emotions all at once and the colors really stood out。

Elizabeth

Fiver year old boy really related to this book。Definitely helped us express emotions and led to valuable conversations。

Callie

A lovely story with gorgeous illustrations 😃

Becca

Text is a bit didactic, but that comes with the territory of message books。 A good jumping off point to help children understand emotions and how to separate them out and understand them。

Books about emotions make me happy

Jumbled emotions - Separating emotions。 Exploring different type of emotions and talking about how you feel - how to articulate this。 Colours representing feelings (blue = sad, etc。)。 ‘It’s ok to cry。’ Good for PHSE。 Activity: creat feeling jars for behaviour management。

I've used this simple but fabulous little book to talk about different feelings with our nursery children。 I've found it very helpful and found it amazing how even the youngest ones were able to describe main feelings using colours! Lovely resource。 I've used this simple but fabulous little book to talk about different feelings with our nursery children。 I've found it very helpful and found it amazing how even the youngest ones were able to describe main feelings using colours!
